In addition to its local work, the UCSF Positive Health Program is globally engaged in initiatives to provide education, training, research and clinical care to thousands living with HIV/AIDS outside of the United States.
PHP international work includes collaborations with local academic and grass roots organizations in several resource-limited communities around the world, most of them in Africa. This work is coordinated through the Positive Health Program's international department--ASPIRE (AIDS Services, Prevention, Intervention, Research and Education).
PHP also offers an extensive series of trainings for clinicians and providers who come to San Francisco General Hospital to learn through a combination of didactic instruction and side-by-side training with local PHP staff.
PHP also actively participates in the World Health Organization and is directly involved in shaping global policy on prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS around the globe.
