To explore, learn, teach, heal and comfort.
From the first reports of the epidemic over 20 years ago, the UCSF HIV/AIDS Division at San Francisco General Hospital has led the world in defining best practices of clinical care in HIV/AIDS medicine.
The HIV/AIDS Division is an interdisciplinary, 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing specialized primary care to thousands of people in San Francisco living with HIV.
Every day in Building 80 on the San Francisco General Hospital, we serve hundreds of primary care patients and dozens of clinical trials volunteers. Primary care is provided on the sixth floor-Ward 86-and services include HIV clinical care, psychosocial support services and specialized programs to support healthy living.
The Division has a major presence in the developing world training local providers and leading global research. Our faculty is among the most cited in scientific publications and conducts work in all major areas of HIV science.
We produce CME-accredited education programs including a weekly HIV Grand Rounds lecture series and the annual Medical Management of HIV/AIDS conference.
All of our faculty and staff commit to focusing first on patient wellbeing, and on a collective mission "to explore, learn, teach, heal and comfort."
